RC2009/2/53 - 03 Mar 1915

27th.February 1915
H. E. Partridge Esq
AUCKLAND.

Dear Sir,
I had the great pleasure at yesterday's meeting of this Committee to inform them of your most princely donation in aid of this Fund. The Mayor proposed the resolution which was carried by acclamation thanking you for this and a formal minute will be forwarded to you in due course.
A committee comprised of the Executive of this Association was formed to wait upon you and ascertain the method which you wish followed in connection with this gift, and they will wait upon you on my return from Rotorua about Tuesday week 9th.March and you will be advised of the due date later.
I might mention that Mr. Parr privately informed the Committee that he would advocate, not £1000 from the City Council as I told you yesterday, but £2000, and I think with a little pressure it would be increased considerably over that amount.
I also approached the Mackelvie Trustees, prior to the meeting, and though Mr. Bankhart who is one of the Trustees, at our meeting stated he did not think they would subscribe towards this gift, with a little pressure I think it is probable.
I have the honour to remain,
                                                                          Your obedient servant,
                                                                             Robert Burns
                                                                    Acting Consul for Belgium
