Dear Mr Partridge
Having visited your splendid Picture Gallery I cannot allow my
visit to pass without expressing my amazement, to see facing me, as
in life, the pictures of many old friends and amongst them are
relations of my own, so true to life like, the expressions, the
features and attitudes all appealed to me as in their life. I have
seen many maori pictures by many Artists, but nothing to be
compared to your collections & they excel anything I have ever
seen in art. The work of colouring, the expressions features are so
true & life like appealed to me as when I knew them in life.
And allow me to congratulate you for the splendid collection of the
"old time Maori Rangatira's", the true type of the Maori race, who
have passed away.
Your friend
Heni Te-Rauoterangi
