Tima Tane Ngati Whatu;TeRoroa;Nga Puhi and Kai Tahu Nelson I greatly enjoyed such amazing paintings of maori. Te Hira Te Kawau was my great great grandfather. His daughter Mere Hira TeKawau married the son of another chief, Rangatira Moetara;Hapakuku Moetara. Hapakuku's sister was Marama Russell, known for her knowledge of maori medicine and whose husband had the first store in NZ, based in the Hokianga.I am from Hapakuku. His brother travelled to England with small.Hapakuku travelled with the treaty of waitangi. A award was given, by the then pricess royal, representng her father the then King George.Due to ill he could not attend a ceremony based in Rotorua. In 2005 a family reunion was celebrated in Hokianga for the descendants of Rangatira Moetara, including my family from Mere Te hira tekawau and Hapakuku Moetara.
