Iwi map - Wiremu KingiIWI / HAPU AFFILIATIONS

Wiremu Kingi lived in the Turanga (Gisborne) district. His father was from Ngāti Porou and his mother was from Te Aowera and Tokomaru Bay.

On 3 June 1901 Mate Haere Koko visited the Lindauer Art Gallery in Auckland and left this comment in the Māori Visitors' Book:

I have seen my ancestor Wi Kingi, chief of Turanganui.

Soon after, on the 21 June, Paratene Tatae also from Turanganui visited the Gallery commenting it was good to see his father, Wiremu Kingi Te Apaapa. Another descendant would not visit again until April 1902 when Moana Paratene viewed the portrait of Wiremu Kingi. His present day descendants include the Te Kani whanau of Te Poho o Rawiri in Turanganui.

My Grandmother's name was Tangiao Kingi. I believe she was the great-granddaughter (or Great-Great) of Wiremu KingiTe Rangataake. My grnadfather Kahi Wi Parata took her back to Taheke Hokianga his region from her Te Atiawa people. I would like to know who her parents were. Does anyone know anything about Wiremu's children?
