Memo. to Mr H.E. Partridge
CITY
Dear Sir,
You will be pleased to hear that as well as the amounts
acknowledged in the papers the following subscriptions we
understand are going to be handed to us.
City Council £1200
Masonic Bodies £50 a month for 12 months -£600
Auckland Savings Bank £500
Whakatane Fete Day £500
Waitemata City Council £100
So you will see we have now already got considerably over £8000.
This spontaneous response to our appeal for assistance in retaining
your munificent gift is, I think, you will admit, very
satisfactory.
I have the honour to remain,
Your obedient servant,
Robert Burns
Acting Consul for Belgium.
Please do not mention Masonic contribution as it is not yet
public
